This BFR Specialist Workshop is designed:
TO HELP CLINICIANS, FITNESS & PERFORMANCE COACHES GROW YOUR PRACTICE BY GIVING THE MOST ENJOYABLE, UNBIASED EVIDENCE BASED BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION (BFR) WORKSHOPS POSSIBLE.

Day 1 Accelerate Recovery/Rehab

  • Discuss evidence-based exercise science concepts for building muscle mass and muscle strength
  • Critically analyze the role of fatigue and its influence in muscle force production and hypertrophy
  • Evaluate the benefits of BFR training and its primary mechanisms
  • Identify proper inclusion/exclusion criteria for BFR training in the injured population.
  • Demonstrate proper equipment handling and cuff placement
  • Assess and determine limb occlusion pressure for safety and effectiveness in BFR training
  • Determine heart rate reserve and be able to program BFR cardiovascular exercise
  • Determine appropriate resistance training exercise prescriptions for BFR resistance training
  • Discuss importance of muscle protein synthesis within the injured, post-operative, elderly and neurological populations
  • Evaluate the benefits of BFR training and its secondary mechanism as it relates to tissue healing and return to activity
  • Discuss BFR in clinical practice within injured, post-operative, elderly and neurological populations
  • Discuss case studies and design/demonstrate a BFR treatment plan of care
  • Discuss marketing and business strategies and solutions to successfully integrate BFR into practice


Physical Therapist/PTA  

This workshop is for 8 to 14.0 credit hours depending on workshop location*. 

 Pending approval by the following APTA Chapters: CA (14hrs - Accelerate Performance & Recovery/Rehab), IL (8hrs - Accelerate Recovery/Rehab), MD (14hrs - Accelerate Performance & Recovery/Rehab), NY (8hrs - Accelerate Recovery/Rehab) 

The following states accept courses approved by other APTA Chapters: AL, AK, AR, AZ, DC, DE, GA, HI, ID, IN, KS, KY, MI, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NM, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, UT, VA, VT, WI, WY 

  • *CO: This course qualifies for up to 14.0 PDAs, Category 1. This course abides by regulatory guidelines for continuing education in Colorado for PTs and PTAs.
